PM Modi’s Delhi Metro Expansion Brings New Connectivity to Delhi

Delhi’s public transport network is entering another major phase of expansion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating two new Delhi Metro corridors and laying the foundation stone for three additional corridors under Phase V-A.

The projects form part of a larger infrastructure programme worth around ?33,500 crore, including approximately ?18,300 crore of Delhi Metro projects. The two inaugurated corridors are designed to improve connectivity across several important North, Central and South Delhi locations. (Akashvani News?)

For residents, commuters and property buyers, the development is particularly important because better Metro connectivity can improve accessibility to residential and commercial areas. For Rohini and North-West Delhi, the wider Metro expansion is also significant because the region is receiving additional connectivity through ongoing and planned infrastructure projects.

Which Two Delhi Metro Corridors Were Inaugurated?

The two major corridors inaugurated are:

1. Majlis Park – Maujpur-Babarpur Pink Line Corridor

The new Majlis Park–Maujpur-Babarpur corridor is approximately 12.3 km long and forms part of the Pink Line.

The corridor is expected to strengthen connectivity across several North and North-East Delhi locations and provide better interchange possibilities for commuters travelling across the existing Metro network.

2. Deepali Chowk – Majlis Park Magenta Line Corridor

The second corridor, between Deepali Chowk and Majlis Park, is approximately 9.9 km long and forms part of the Magenta Line.

This connection is particularly relevant for North-West Delhi because it improves access around areas including Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur-Badli Mor, Bhalaswa and Majlis Park. (Akashvani News?)

Areas Expected to Benefit From the New Metro Connectivity

The expanded network is expected to improve connectivity for several parts of Delhi, including:

  • Burari
  • Jagatpur-Wazirabad
  • Khajuri Khas
  • Bhajanpura
  • Yamuna Vihar
  • Madhuban Chowk
  • Haiderpur-Badli Mor
  • Bhalaswa
  • Majlis Park

The objective is to make cross-city travel easier, reduce dependence on private vehicles and strengthen Delhi’s public transport network. (Press Information Bureau?)

Three More Delhi Metro Corridors Under Phase V-A

Alongside the two inaugurated corridors, the government has also moved ahead with three additional corridors under Delhi Metro Phase V-A.

These have a combined route length of approximately 16.076 km and an estimated project cost of around ?12,014.91 crore.

The proposed corridors are:

R.K. Ashram Marg – Indraprastha

Length: 9.913 km

This corridor is planned to strengthen connectivity between West, North and Old Delhi with Central Delhi. It will also provide Metro connectivity towards the Central Vista area. (PM India?)

Aerocity – IGI Airport Terminal 1

Length: 2.263 km

This short but strategically important corridor will improve connectivity between Aerocity and Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 1.

Tughlakabad – Kalindi Kunj

Length: 3.9 km

This corridor will improve connectivity between parts of South Delhi and the Kalindi Kunj area, strengthening links towards the airport and neighbouring regions. (PM India?)

Why Delhi Metro Expansion Matters for Rohini

For property buyers and investors looking at Rohini, Metro expansion is an important infrastructure factor.

Rohini is already one of North-West Delhi’s established residential areas, but continued investment in Metro connectivity can further improve accessibility to employment centres, commercial hubs and neighbouring parts of Delhi-NCR.

The government has separately approved the Rithala–Narela–Nathupur (Kundli) corridor under Delhi Metro Phase IV. The approximately 26.46-km corridor will have 21 stations and is planned to connect Rithala with Narela and Nathupur in Haryana. (PM India?)

Importantly for Rohini, the approved station list includes Rohini Sector 25, Sector 26, Sector 31, Sector 32, Sector 36, Sector 35 and Sector 34.

This makes the project especially relevant for people considering property in these parts of Rohini. (PM India?)

Rohini Sectors 34, 35, 36 & 37: Why Infrastructure Matters

The Rohini Sector 34, 35, 36 and 37 belt has attracted increasing attention from homebuyers because of its developing residential infrastructure and improving connectivity.

The approved Rithala–Narela–Nathupur corridor specifically includes stations serving Rohini Sector 36, Sector 35 and Sector 34, creating a potentially important long-term connectivity advantage for these areas. (PM India?)

For buyers looking at Rohini plots, floors and residential properties, infrastructure should be considered alongside factors such as road connectivity, nearby schools, markets, healthcare facilities, Metro access and future development.

Does Metro Connectivity Affect Property Demand?

Metro connectivity is one of the infrastructure factors that can influence residential property demand.

Better public transportation can make an area more convenient for:

  • Daily office commuters
  • Students
  • Families
  • Tenants
  • Business owners
  • Property investors

However, Metro connectivity should not be treated as a guarantee of property price appreciation. Actual property values depend on several factors, including location, property quality, road access, local amenities, supply and demand, and future development.

For buyers evaluating Rohini property investment, upcoming Metro infrastructure can therefore be considered as one part of a wider investment assessment.

Delhi’s Infrastructure Push Is Changing North-West Delhi

Delhi’s infrastructure development is increasingly extending beyond the traditional central areas of the capital.

The Rithala–Narela–Nathupur Metro corridor is particularly significant because it will connect Delhi with Narela and Kundli in Haryana, creating a stronger transport link across Delhi-NCR. The corridor is also expected to support connectivity between residential, industrial and commercial areas. (PM India?)

This broader connectivity can be important for North-West Delhi, including Rohini, Bawana and Narela.

What This Means for Homebuyers

If you are planning to buy a home or invest in property in Rohini, infrastructure development is worth monitoring.

A property’s location relative to:

  1. Metro stations
  2. Main roads
  3. Schools and colleges
  4. Hospitals
  5. Shopping and commercial centres
  6. Parks and recreational facilities
  7. Upcoming infrastructure projects

can influence its long-term usability and attractiveness.

For this reason, prospective buyers should look beyond today’s connectivity and also examine planned and approved infrastructure projects.
